Max isn't a big fan of tummy time, but we attempt a few minutes a day just to make sure he's building his neck and head strength, and working out those motor skills. This is just before he started crying and casting us accusatory glances.

Last Week
This week has been tough. We learned that Max hasn't been gaining weight, and is still a few ounces under his birth weight. It seems that this was brought on by a weak suck on his part and low milk supply on mine. It's a vicious cycle. If Max doesn't latch on and suck correctly, my milk supply goes down. As a huge advocate and supporter of breast feeding, this has been heart breaking for me. I was so looking forward to this bonding time with my baby.
I've gone through grief, guilt, sorrow and determination... All in about four days time. It's been exhausting, but with the amazing, and I mean AMAZING, support of my family, we have been keeping Max fed. His tummy is expanding, and he is starting to eat the right amount for his three weeks. I don't think I would have made it through this week without my family. They have truly saved me, Steve and Max.
We are working on getting our milk supply up, along with Max's appetite, and I know we'll get there. We fall more in love with him every day. And with all this extra food, he's practically a new boy. He sleeps more soundly, we can finally lay him down and he's more alert. It's awesome to see.

This is Max's cousin Maeve. She is six months old and the most beautiful baby around. Just look at those eyes! She comes and visits us a lot and we love her. She's one of our best friends!
